In December 2008 through January 2009, I was part of an eight person expedition team sent to Mawson’s Huts at Cape Denison on the Antarctic continent, on behalf of the Mawson’s Huts Foundation. http://www.mhf.aq
The purpose of this expedition (the eighth since 1997) was to continue conservation and restoration work on the historic huts built by the 18 man 1911-14 Australasian Antarctic Expedition led by Sir Douglas Mawson.
My role on the expedition was to document the 2008/2009 works programme on both video and stills.
The gallery of photos below is just a small selection available and there are numerous more on file of the work carried out by the expedition team, the huts, Cape Denison area and wildlife. As you will see, I had a fascination with the very cute, personality plus, Adelie penguins.
The Mawson’s Huts Foundation is a not for profit organisation and twenty five percent from the sale of these photographs will be donated to the Foundation to assist in ensuring the conservation of this priceless piece of Australia’s heritage continues.
